Discover Kauai

E Komo Mai!

Kauai is the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands and the one which best presents the image of 'paradise' that most people dream of. The island's primary attraction is its natural beauty. A trip around the island will provide a feast for the senses with lush green forests, secluded white sand beaches and cascading waterfalls. On Kauai, a waterfall is not a tourist attraction, it's just part of the landscape. Your circumnavigation will be interrupted by two of the world's greatest natural wonders; the Napali Coast and the Waimea Canyon.

Some of the things to do on Kauai include hiking, snorkelling, kayaking, diving, wind surfing, hula shows, luau's, plantation tours or just letting the local culture sink in. Be sure to take time to just relax and let your internal clock slow down to 'island time'. Fine dining and romantic beachside barbeques rank amongst the best ways to spend an evening. Travellers looking to enjoy a vibrant night life or fast paced city should probably spend more of their time in Waikiki.

While direct flights to Kauai's Lihue (LIH) airport are now available, an inter-island flight from Honolulu (HNL) takes only 16 minutes and can be reasonably priced. A rental car is a must on the island as Kauai's public transit system (Officially named 'The Bus') has a limited schedule. Most importantly, don't forget your sunscreen!
